Lucky Bamboo Favors & Centerpieces

The site where that cute favor came from has tons of customization options! You can chose from 1, 2, or 3 bamboo sticks. And you can change the color of the rocks and marbles in the vase, as well as add gold, silver, or red metallic ties to the bamboo sticks.
I saw these and thought that they would make adorable favors, but I would prefer that there was some personalization...Maybe the vase could have our names and wedding date in-scripted on it.

Well they do offer a personalized tag:

Of course, this favor sure is simple enough that I could make it myself.
But sometimes the ready made favors actually come out cheaper than buying all the pieces yourself and putting them together.

I never really thought that I would do too much DIY wedding stuff. I just always assumed I would whip out my credit card and then deal with paying everything off later.
Of course, I love crafts, and I consider myself quite crafty. So I would probably have a ton of fun doing some DIY wedding projects.

As long as I obviously start them all enough in advance that I can get everything done without getting stressed and rushed.

I wonder if I could just find some twisty stalks to tie together and make them look like hearts, cheaper than buying the ready-made heart stalks.

With that being said, here are some more favors and centerpieces that I found:

So sweet!

I never thought of using them as Escort Card Holders!

I try to like them straight or curly, but can't help but love the hearts the best!

So after all of this research I just learned that there are several different kinds of bamboo...Some have leaves and some have flowers.

This is called Lotus Bamboo

Lucky Bamboo Centerpiece

Ever since seeing the idea to use lucky bamboo for centerpieces, I have been obsessed with thinking of more ideas to get that to work.
Hopefully it doesn't look strange that there won't be any other kind of Asian inspired decor.

Jon has been saying for years that he always wanted to own some bamboo. I think he wants to put a small one on his desk at work.

So while stopping at BJs for gas on my way home from work this evening, I passed by a 99 Cent store. I decided I would look for some bamboo to buy Jon to surprise him with on Thursday for our 27th-Monthiversary.

I found these:

Sorry for the poor quality...But I was trying to take a quick picture with my phone of the only two Heart vases I could find before the owner lady came and yelled at me or something.

Anyway, I thought maybe those could be centerpieces. The smaller heart was I think $5.99, and the larger was I think $7.99

I was going to buy Jon one of the heart ones, but then decided he would be too embarrassed to put it at his desk at work...So I decided on this one instead:

I thought it was more manly than the hearts. :)

Anyway...They also sell huge stalks of lucky bamboo for like $0.79 each!

So I can do a DIY centerpiece by buying those single stalks and putting them in vases and such.
Maybe a vase with a couple stalks...And like pebbles or something in the bottom of the vase...And all on top of a mirror. And maybe surrounded by mini heart shaped bamboos. or votive candles.
And then I probably wouldn't toss rose petals around, because that probably won't match a flower-less centerpiece.

Mouse Pad Favor

A friend of mine met her boyfriend (now husband) at a Starbucks.
They wanted to incorporate that sentimental moment into their wedding.
So they gave out packets of Starbucks Coffee for the favors.
Cute, right?

So I wondered what could Jon and I do that would incorporate something sweet of how we met.
And I decided I am not paying for everyone to have Match.com accounts! ;)
Or give everyone a Saranac Beer...Although that is more practical than the first idea.
(You can remind yourself of the significance of those two things here.)

Anyway, I just accidentally came across this favor idea:

I thought that was funny.
Since we met online.
And it says "we clicked"...As a cute pun.
But we literally had to click our mouse, in order to meet.
Yep. Clever, huh? :-P
I highly doubt we will use those favors.
But just thought it was cute and unique enough that it deserved a post. :)
I mean, who thinks of giving mouse pads as a wedding favor, anyway?!
I see both pros and cons of that idea.

Random Wedding Ideas

CENTERPIECES:

I LOVE THE HEART SHAPED BAMBOO!
That would make a unique centerpiece or favor!

CUTE!

So we could do big heart bamboo as a centerpiece...On a mirror with scattered rose petals...And have the little heart bamboos surrounding it, and they can be the favors. Maybe we could some how get our name and date on the little bamboos.
Or just use the big OR little, instead of both...We can do a candle thing in place of the big bamboo, or we can do little votive candle in place of the little bamboo.

I always wondered if I could have a centerpiece with pink water...Well, yellow is close...To at least show centerpieces with different colored water.
(Of course, in this example, that yellow is actually jello.)

Centerpiece

Maybe a little too simple?

FAVORS:

MAYBE these personalized wine glasses can have water with a floating candle in it...And have that be a centerpiece...But have enough for everyone at the table, so they can then be the favors? Maybe. :-\

The same previous centerpiece/favor logic goes for this personalized single bud vase.
(And then when the guests take them home, they can always use them as really tall shot glasses! LOL)

Wedding Cakes

BLING! :)

I LOVE THOSE MIDDLE TWO TIERS!
Especially with the little "blings".
I wouldn't use that red...But I have been looking everywhere like crazy for wedding cakes with the pattern used on that second tier. And I like the viney pattern on the third tier, too.
But I can do without the first and fourth tiers.
However, I would make all of the tiers one pattern.
And as much as I love crystals and bling...That topper might be a bit much too.

Centerpiece Ideas

I really love the idea of having tall skinny centerpieces with huge bunches of flowers and hanging crystals...I have posted countless numbers of pictures of those kinds of centerpieces in the past.

With that being said, I recently came across the following:

Source

I think it is cute and simple and yet kind of elegant.
And maybe it can help save money on centerpieces that could be used elsewhere in the wedding.

Another simple centerpiece idea.
I would replace the rocks with pretty stones or glass pieces or something. And probably put the vases on a mirror. But I like the idea of three different heights.
And would these simpler centerpiece ideas, also be more functional for someone to take home? I mean, who really wants to take home a huge bouquet of pink flowers that will only last a few days?

Martini Centerpiece

What about something simple, yet unique like that?!
The funny thing is, I always loved floating candles, since I was on my High School Prom Committee! But I didn't know if they were more juvenile or even outdated, to use for a modern wedding.

So cute!
The full view is shown in Fuchsia
The close-up is shown in Blue Pastel (because that is the only color they show the details in)

I like the idea of this dress for me for one of my needed dresses.
And of course it is by my Love (Alfred Angelo) :)

The website that the next 3 Bridesmaid Dresses are from, is not working too well right now...So I can't view it in other colors

theknot says it comes in 'various colors'.
