A Few Quick Updates

Last Friday Night we went to the design lady that does flower-less centerpieces. She had some good ideas at a very reasonable price. So we have to think about it.

Saturday Morning we went to our florist appointment to discover that she forgot all about our appointment. So it was a sloppy appointment on her end since she was not ready. All in all, she was nice and had great ideas, but I think she is going to be way too expensive.
So we totally need to keep looking for another florist ASAP!

Saturday Afternoon we went to our cake tasting. And it went awesome! We booked him.

I showed him the design of my butter cream version of my fondant cake that I designed…We were pretty much able to stick with the butter cream version of my dream wedding cake. I am actually really excited about it. I think it is going to look really awesome! :)

At first Jon and I decided we were going to get every tier in chocolate. But then the baker asked us, “what about people who don’t like chocolate?” (Which actually includes my dad and my sister.) So then we decided that the top tier that we take home with us is chocolate. And the biggest bottom tier is going to be chocolate with peanut butter mousse! I am very excited for that! And then one of the other bottom tiers will be a marble cake…And then the other tier is going to be a yellow cake. We tasted all of the cake flavors on Saturday, and they all rock!

We also tasted three different butter creams. One was vanilla, one was more yellowy, and the last was chocolate.

The chocolate butter cream was soooo damn good! I was very tempted to order a full chocolate cake with chocolate ganache in between the layers and chocolate butter cream on the outside. But we did not do that.

All of the butter creams were yummy and not too sweet. He said they can adjust the sweetness level or add flavorings to the creams. But we decided to leave them as is. And we chose the white butter cream for the outside of the cake for the simple reason that my final design called for the cake to be mostly white. So that’s that.

I can’t wait until my wedding day to see my design brought to life in my actual wedding cake!! :)

Tomorrow afternoon is our Invitations appointment. So hopefully that goes well.

Oh and last Sunday I finally ordered our Save-The-Dates that a friend of mine designed for us. So hopefully those magnets will be coming in soon!

And those are all of the updates for now! :)

Possible Save-The-Dates...

Here are a couple of home made Save-The-Dates...I can't decide if I want to use any of these or not.

The first 4 were created by me:

This one was made by a High School friend:

This one was made by a different High School friend:

And these two were made by my Future-Mother-In-Law:

Quick Updates

Here are a couple of quick updates:

1) As I said earlier, I always seem to win a prize at every other bridal show...Sunday's show was my 'other' which meant I should have won something.
Well, I did! :)
I won a nice autograph plate. I just don't know if I should put it out at the Engagement Party, Rehearsal Dinner, or Reception...I just don't think it is big enough for everyone at the Reception to be able to sign it.
So we'll see.

So this pattern means that I won't win anything at the HUGE Bridal Show that I am going to in two weeks. :(
Hehe

2) At Sunday's show I booked a DJ.
He seems good. So hopefully that will work out well.

3) Now that I see the real prices everything costs, my original dream of having a huge fancy Engagement Party have faded away with many of my other original dreams...
With that being said, I was going to just do away with the Engagement Party all together.
However, I think it will be nice for both of our families and both sides of the Bridal Party to meet and mingle prior to the wedding.
So I am trying to plan a small gathering that I will call our Engagement Party. That will just consist of our parents, grandparents, some aunts and uncles, cousins, and the bridal party and their significant others.
So it will be considerably smaller than the actual wedding invite list.
But I was just trying to include the most important people that should meet ahead of time.
Etiquette says the Engagement Party should be like 6months before the wedding. Which brings us to February.
Unfortunately everyone will be driving from either 2 hours to 6 hours or more to get here...And February in Central New York still means a ton of snow. And I hate to make everyone travel in the snow.
So we'll see what happens.

3) My newest Save-The-Date Love:

So I was making a rough-draft of one of those for Jon & I...I thought we could use real pictures of us from the dates listed instead of those clip-art pictures.
The only problem is that our lives aren't really interesting...I don't think we have many dates to list.

I came up with the date we got matched on Match.com, the day we met in person, the day we officially started dating, the day we first said "I Love You", & the day we got engaged.
Not the most exciting time line. Heh

I just thought that would be cute and different...And it can probably be done on a magnet depending on the size of the document, and if we want to be cheaper we can always just put it on nice paper without a magnet.

LIttle bit of this, little bit of that...

Flower Girl Dress for my black and white theme...Alfred Angelo has done it again! :)

OK So maybe this is a little too cartoony or babyish...But I think this is really unique and cute:

Cute STD, no?
I wonder if we can steal this idea and use our actual pictures...And maybe my color theme for the background...

And here is my color theme...Yay! :)

Invitations & Save-The-Dates

This would go perfect with the Cinderella cake topper! (If I decide to use it.)

This is different then any Invitation idea I have liked...But I kind of like the organization of this one...Assuming the colors can be changed to match my theme.

Simply Breathtaking!
I ADORE THE BLING ASPECT! :)

I LOVE the idea of saying "Tying the knot" and using an actual knot!

This Save-The-Date combines every detail that I wanted all into one!
It has a spot for our picture, and a calendar, and a ribbon 'knot', AND it's a magnet!
FANTASTIC! :)
UPDATE: I just stared at that picture for a while, because I became so in love with it...And I saw a flaw...Nowhere does it mention the location. I mean think about it logically...Would you save the date for an event that you don't know where it is? You don't know if you are saving a date for something local, something a few hours away, or something you need to go buy a plane ticket for!
Unless it's alright not to include the location because it does say 'invitation to follow', which will obviously include the location...But all wedding etiquette that I have ever read said to include the location on your Save-The-Dates.
Hmmmmm....

Invitations & Save-The-Dates

OK, so I personally wouldn't use that pattern for my Wedding Invitation...But maybe my Bridal Shower or Thank Yous.
I just think the pattern is so pretty.
But maybe it's just the little pink-loving girly girl still in me.

I think that is a cute Save-The-Date...And despite it being pink, I think it isn't as babyish as some of the others I kinda like. Hehe
(Yes, it took all of the strength I have to resist the urge to post the cute Cinderella themed princess fairytale Invitations and Save-The-Dates!)

Well, that magnet is direct and to the point, huh?!

Too Valentine's Day looking?
Well at least it is polite and says, "please".

How adorable is that for a destination wedding?!
I think I am in LOVE! ;)

Wedding Invitations

Last year I went to a couple of bridal shows with my friend Nina. (I can't believe she is finally getting married in two weeks!!)

Anyway, some of the vendors repeat at each show. And there was this one girl I remember who does graphic designs for invitations or wedding photos, etc.
And I remember how good her work was. And her husband, well fiancé at the time, works with her or was just helping out with her booth. Either way, they were a good looking couple and used their own pictures for the sample invitations.
And it turned out that she was showing the actual possibilities for invitations for her own wedding.

Anyway...My point is that I loved all the samples she had at her booth. It gave me ideas for invitations that I never thought of! And the reason I bring this up now is because her website is finally up and running. So I can look at the beautiful pictures again!

The thing I LOVE about those two ideas is that it is personalized by using a picture of the couple...And yet you don't see their faces. Which is perfect for me, 'cuz as I have mentioned in the past, Jon and I rarely have a decent picture of us together, because I usually hate how my face looks in pictures.

I think if someone took a candid picture of Jon and I, it would probably be better than when we try to pose for a picture. Because it can capture like our actual real expressions. And if we were smiling at each other or something, that would probably make an awesome picture...And look better because it would be natural as opposed to staged and stiff.

Examples of natural candid poses (Or maybe they were just really good at posing while looking like they weren't!) Either way, these are REALLY CUTE too:

As are these:

I am just so jealous at what a cute couple they are...And how good all of their photos came out!
(Haha I feel like such a stalker!)

Maybe when Jon and I go get professional engagement photos taken of us, we can FINALLY have a decent picture of us! Hehe Maybe.
*Crosses fingers*
