Color Concerns

An interesting article I just came across on: http://partease.com/blog/archives/276

"When the time comes for you to choose your wedding dress, the traditional white or ivory are no longer your only options. Wedding gowns are now available in a variety of colors, as well as white or ivory with colorful accents. Whether it’s a jewel tone, neutral, or pastel you decide on, adding a pop of color to your wedding dress can be the finishing touch.
The color you choose should be one that you both love and looks good on you- for example, don’t go with yellow if you’re sallow, even if it is your favorite. Things to consider when picking out your gown goes beyond the basics of loving it and looking good, however. Make sure your color preference won’t clash with your wedding venue, flower choice, wedding favors, décor, etc.
Another thing to consider when choosing your gown color is connotations, superstitions, and certain associations with different colors. For example, black is commonly associated with regret or impending widowhood, green is considered unlucky even when used in décor and
wedding favors, and purple is historically a mourning color. Culture and ethnic background can change these superstitions and beliefs, however- red is seen as extremely lucky in Asia, but is associated with more negative things here in the US.
Color can be a great way to make your wedding dress unique and stand out from the crowd. There are many things to consider when picking your gown’s color, make sure you’re thorough and check out all the options before coming to your decision!"
