Wedding Songs

After {4 days shy of} dating for 26 months, Jon and I still do not have a song that we consider to be 'ours'.

We don't always have the same taste in music...But there are a few songs from time to time that we can both agree on liking.

I have a wide range of musical tastes...Whereas Jon really only likes the loud heavy metal type stuff. The type music that always makes me ask him, "why are these people so angry?!"

He has however pointed out to me some sweet lovey-dovey lyrics within some of those angry sounding songs.
(Example: "Whispers in the dark" by Skillet)
The ones that we both really enjoy, that don't sound so sweet to those unfamiliar with the lyrics, but we know what the lyrics mean...Well, those songs I guess we tend to sort of consider '
ours' a little bit.

Either way, none of those songs will make a good first dance wedding song.
I have NO idea what song we will end up dancing to.

I went to a wedding back in college, where the couple's first dance song was to Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters". And I remember all I could think of was how nontraditional and crazy the idea seems.
But now, every time I hear that song on the radio, it makes me think of that wedding and the happy couple. And I find it to be quite sweet.

I even asked Jon if he would consider it for us...Since it would be kinda modern and less traditional, but still on the slow side...But he wants to be more original than intentionally stealing someone else's wedding song.

My friends Nina and Greg dated for about 6 years before they got engaged. Their song has always been "Thank You For Loving Me" by Bon Jovi.
Personally, I have Loved that song for as long as I can remember!

Anyway, the night Greg was proposing to Nina, they were dancing in their dining room to that song. As soon as it ended Greg said to Nina, "Thank you for Loving me".
And then he got down on one knee and said, "I have 5 more words for you...Nina, will you marry me?"
Now, I think that is one of the sweetest things I have ever heard!

That song has a lot of meaning to them.
Nina even got "Thank you for Loving me" engraved on the inside of Greg's wedding band.
And needless to say, that song is quite obviously going to be their first wedding dance song.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have Etta James' "At Last" be our wedding song...But Jon does not care for that song.

I have also really been into the duet by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, "Lucky".
How cool would that be to have them since that song live at my wedding for our first dance song?!?!
And then Jason can sing his other song I Love, "I'm Yours"...And it is slow so we can have like Jon and I dance to that...Plus like our parents and grandparents.
I don't know, that just sounds sweet and classy.
Oh, and I guess Colbie can sing "Bubbly" or something...Just so she doesn't feel left out for not doing a solo song.
And then I would imagine those 3 songs would be all we could afford to pay them to sing. Hahahahaha
So then after that we go back to the DJ. No biggie.

Haha Yep...Well, I can dream, can't I?!

In conclusion, I have noooooooo idea what compromise Jon and I will come up with for our wedding song.
